By now, I guess we all are aware of the buzz called Thomas Beatie, the transgender man who is six months pregnant. And the latest update is that he is appearing on Oprah today, thats April 3rd. What's interesting to note is that Oprah who highlights women issues, is highlighting a transgender pregnant man. Oprah is widening her horizon for sure, from women to transgender causes.

The grapevine says that the obstetrician has confirmed the pregnancy, and said that the child is normal and healthy. Congratulations Thomas Beatie!

Something that I really liked about Thomas Beatie is his opinion about having a child - he said that having a child is neither a masculine or feminine desire, but a human desire. No objections to that Thomas. But isn't the media furore too much? Or are you creating a hype deliberately and hogging the limelight through Oprah and The advocate? The desire to be a mother is perfectly normal , but Thomas Beatie could have maintained a low-profile and hence respected his sensitive emotions of motherhood. Hi folks! Here's a news that I just found in Seacoastonline. This is another great way to celebrate International Women's Day. Women Around the World -- A Film Festival is going to be held at the Wells High School Auditorium on Womens Day March 8, Saturday at 10 a.m. This is going to be a major step to make people -- especially women all over the globe -- aware of the history of women's struggle for justice and equality.

The International Women's Club of New England and the Wells Ogunquit Adult Community Education program are jointly presenting a couple of most acclaimed movies, "The Syrian Bride" and "Yesterday".

Stop violence against women! This is probably a slogan that comes out of the heart of every woman all over the world. So now let's have a look on the women's right and violence against women.

Here's something that I came across over the net while surfing stuff on International Women's Day a couple of weeks ago as it's Women History Month. It's known to most of us but I thought better to start off with this than something else.

It was during 2004, a global Stop Violence Against Women Campaign (SVAW) was launched by the Amnesty International. The view was to break the silence around this scandal. But that wasn't the end. Their focus was also on creating a land of women where women of all generations, single women, pregnant women, married women, lonely women would get their basic human rights -- the women's right.

I remember the day when the members of Amnesty International joined hands to make their dream come true -- making the women's right a realty. This women's right movement had an immense impact world wide, demanding that the women's right to be free from violence. It showed that women's right was an integral part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Unless "Stop violence against women" mission is fulfilled, the promise of human rights would remain null and void.

Let's make our dream come true and the best way is to reach out to our friends and acquaintances with our heartfelt thoughts and inspire them to unite together to restore the Women's right.
